The Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury, MA is a picture-perfect spot for capturing special family memories—and this September, I had the absolute joy of photographing a session with a sweet baby and their lovable pup. It was one of those quintessential New England early autumn days, where the yellowing leaves danced in the breeze and the historic charm of the mill created a stunning backdrop.

As a family photographer, sessions like these are my favorite! There’s something magical about the bond between a baby and their furry best friend, and this duo was no exception. We started with some candid shots by the mill’s iconic waterwheel. Then, we moved to the nearby wooded trails, where the sunlight filtered through the trees, adding a warm glow to every shot.

The parents were thrilled to include their dog in the photos, and I couldn’t agree more—pets are family too!

The Wayside Inn Grist Mill offers many opportunities for beautiful photo locations. One of my favorites is just to the right of the mill overlooking the stream. The light shines through the foliage creating beautiful backlit bokeh!

It was so nice seeing this great family again for a fall family session at Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury! They brought their adorable King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Bunker too! He was very cooperative and started eating leaves towards the end.

They had their session on July 4th at the Sudbury Grist Mill and despite the heat the were the sweetest most loving couple. I’m so glad I got to document these last moments before baby boy arrives on the scene!

I also loved the pink and blue color scheme! At the end of their session both kids wanted Doug to toss them in the air, the easiest way to get smiles out of any kid!

Our original photo date at the Grist Mill in Sudbury was rained out and I’m so glad we rescheduled for the next day! Little kids do so well with sunrise sessions too, that’s usually their best time of day. Mr L was all smiles and would rather explore but he did so well!

I met this fun family of 5 kids (yes 5) at the Grist Mill in Sudbury, MA to take their fall family photos and their enthusiasm was contagious! They range in age from 2-15 so you can imagine the mix of personalities! The older girls were so helpful wrangling the little ones and I loved seeing how they all interact together. It’s not easy getting kids coordinated and dressed for photos but it’s always worth the work <3
