Arnold Arboretum Boston, MA Cherry Blossom Spring Engagement Photos | Alexis and Dave

I met Alexis, Dave, and their adorable dog, Crosby, at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston for their spring cherry blossom engagement session! The arboretum was in full bloom and we walked around all the beautiful trees. Crosby did a great job having his photos taken, he was content to hang out with his mom and dad and smell all the other dogs in the park.

Old Stone Church West Boylston Engagement Photos | Adam and Becky

Adam and Becky’s wedding has come and gone and I realized I never shared their engagement photos! We went to Old Stone Church in West Boylston and had fun walking the little beach and taking photos in front of the church. Becky got some adorable Mr & Mrs mugs and their dog Luke even made an appearance at the end!

I had an amazing time with Marcy and Anthony at their Beavertail Lighthouse engagement photo session in Jamestown, RI this summer! Marcy wanted photos with the rock cliffs and water in the background and this spot was perfect. We had a wonderful sunny day and we got so many beautiful photos!

Plum Island Newburyport Engagement Session | Alison and Dave

Alison and Dave had their beach engagement photos taken at the beautiful Plum Island Beach in Newburyport, MA on a perfect sunny day! We had so much fun walking the beach and they even braved the freezing cold water!

Scituate Lighthouse Engagement Photos | Tyler and Alexis

Tyler and Alexis wanted a coastal look to their engagement photos so we went to Scituate Lighthouse in Scituate, MA to take photos around sunset. It was a hot day and I found a random beach house with good shade that ended up being the perfect coastal cottage backdrop! Tyler and Alexis just got engaged in June, when they look at each other their love and excitement for this next chapter radiates from their smiles.

Tyler proposed to Alexis the day they closed on their first house, combining two emotional events into one! Alexis said as soon as they walked in the front door Tyler dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him. Covid delayed her ring but I think getting a new house is just as exciting!

The obligatory 2020 mask photo, coordinating with your outfit is a must!

Wellesley College Fall Engagement Photos | Pooja and Nadja

Nadja & Pooja looked like royalty for their Wellesley College engagement session! They were so fun to work with and even practiced their posing beforehand! Nadja told me she wanted luxurious photos that captured their love. They’ve been together since they were 16 and they have a natural easy way of interacting. The leaves at Wellesley College were just starting to turn and gave the most beautiful glow in the background.

Fan Pier Boston Engagement Photos | Darian & Chris

Darian is a fellow photographer from Georgia and wanted some photos of herself and her husband Chris while they were visiting Boston. These Georgians were absolute troopers in the crazy wind we had that day and I loved sharing my beautiful city with them. Darian had her heart set on Fan Pier engagement style photos and our crazy weather wasn’t going to stop them! I had such a blast hanging out with them and Darian took a few photos of me too! How to Propose: 7 tips for a Successful Marriage Proposal

Happy proposal season! If it seems like everyone on Facebook is getting engaged that's because we are currently in prime proposal season. The joy & festivities of the holidays puts guys in the mood to get down on one knee. If you're thinking the time is right to ask the question, here are my top 7 tips for getting a yes. 

1. Talk about marriage before hand. It may sound romantic to propose out of the blue but it's not much fun once you get married and you discover only one of you wants kids. Talk about children, jobs, where you want to live, your roles in a marriage. Talk about it a lot, this is the biggest commitment you will ever make (besides kids). Make sure you're on the same page before you even consider proposing.  

2. Know her personality. Is she an extrovert who would love a public proposal? Is it important to have family and friends in attendance? Is she a private person who would prefer just the two of you? Set up a proposal where she'll be comfortable and happy. A shy introvert probably won't appreciate a jumbo-tron proposal and a city girl might not like a mountain hike proposal. Make it personal. Show her that you listen and care about the things that are important to her. 

3. Ask her parents for their blessing. If she has a good relationship with her parents tell them you intend to propose to their daughter and would love their blessing. You're not asking for permission, she's her own person, but rather showing respect to her family. 

4. Select a location that has meaning to you. Think of where you had your first date, her favorite place, or somewhere with happy family memories.  The proposal should match your relationship, chose a place you would normally go. 

5. Outfit check. Make sure she’s wearing something location appropriate and wouldn't mind having her photo taken. If she's happy in a T shirt and jeans that's fine but if she gets dolled up to go to Target take that into consideration. Tell her you’re going out to dinner at a nice restaurant or that you want to plan a day trip to her favorite location. 

6. Hire a photographer/videographer. She won’t remember exactly what happened or what you said. Having someone hiding in the bushes to document the moment will help bring back the memory. And she'll have something amazing to post on Facebook!

7. Prepare what you're going to say. You don't have to write out a speech but tell her why you love her and what saying yes would mean to you. Make sure you get down on one knee and the ring goes on the left hand ;) 

Bonus tip: Just ask! If she's the one for you she'll just be happy you asked, no matter how you do it.
