There’s something timeless about photographing families at The Old Manse in Concord. With its historic stone walls, lush gardens, and peaceful backdrop along the Concord River, it’s a place where New England charm truly shines.

This sweet family joined me for a fall session, and I love how natural and relaxed their portraits turned out. The children’s bright personalities came through instantly; big smiles, playful energy, and a little curiosity for exploring the grounds. Their pup even got to join in, which always makes a family session feel extra personal and joyful.

The Old Manse is one of my favorite spots because it offers so much variety in such a short walk: rustic stonework, open fields, colorful gardens, and views of the river. In the fall, the golden light filtering through the trees adds a soft, warm glow that makes every photo feel cozy and full of life.

For this family, the stone wall became the perfect gathering spot. It allowed for a natural, comfortable pose while keeping the focus on their connection with one another. Their wardrobe choices, neutral grays and whites with pops of orange and red, also complemented the autumn setting beautifully.
